Ms.Odero holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology from Maseno University. She is pursuing Master of Arts Degree in Youth Development in the same University and currently writing a thesis.  She holds Diploma in Business Administration and psychosocial counselling. She has enormous experience in Right Based Approach. Ascar has attended several seminars and workshops on different fields: Gender mainstreaming, project management, OVC care and support, Sustainable Economic Development (SED), Child rights and protection, Transformational Development Indicators, and M & E.

Ascar A. Odero is behavioural scientist with a background in Community Development. Has a wealth of experience in programme designing, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning and implementation, Programme impact assessments, Disability inclusion programming, Fund  Raising and Resource Mobilization, and Lobby & Advocacy. She has over 10 years experience in Social Research and community development. She is a behavioural scientist sensitive to cultural issues affecting socio- economic and political phenomenon.

 

Working experience

Ascar has over 10 years of professional experience in the field of community empowerment, research and development. Currently she is the HEAD OF PROGRAMME & RESOURCE MOBILIZATION LEAD with AICCAD Kenya. Overally  she is coordinating a number of programs namely; the HIV, Child Sponsorship, youth and Employment, Livelihood Development, Disability Inclusion and Lobby and Advocacy programs. She spearheads the program planning and budgeting process, programme development and quality assurance, Programme Monitoring and Evaluation, Concept notes and proposal development, recruitment and performance management of the Staff.

Besides, Ascar coordinates capacity building initiatives with local government and private sector partners to build capacity of other stakeholders. She joined AICCAD in 2011 as the in charge of administration and operations of a TVET institution dealing with youth on employability skills. In 2012 she was promoted to head livelihood program that included economic development of vulnerable groups and households. Prior to joining AICCAD, she had worked in different organizations serving in different positions; World vision (K)-Winam ADP-Community Development officer working with OVCs and vulnerable households for improved standards of living. She Worked with KENGO /KARI/ SWEET POTATO INTERNATIONAL as a research assistant coordinating research on Vitamin A carotene and Renewed Natural Energy. Ms. Odero has hands on experience with small to large organizations and complex donor funded programs including, Global fund, USAID,  Red een Kind, Talent Foundation Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs amongst others.
