DALMA (Daraja La Mafanikio)
Project: Empowering Vulnerable Youth in Kibera and Mukuru Informal Settlements
AICCAD, through its Nairobi Training Centre (NTC), has partnered with MSDP (Mukuru Slums Development Projects) and the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) to launch the DALMA (Daraja La Mafanikio – Bridge to Success) project. Supported by the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA), this program is designed to connect 600 vulnerable TVET graduates from Kibera and Mukuru informal settlements with employment opportunities in their communities and beyond.
The DALMA project provides a comprehensive solution to youth unemployment by offering vocational skills training, while also facilitating access to apprenticeships, attachments, and both short- and long-term job placements. Through a cutting-edge web-based platform and a USSD code-accessible database and mobile app, graduates and employers can seamlessly connect, opening new doors for employment.
In addition to technical skills, participants receive training in employability and entrepreneurship, equipping them with the mindset and abilities needed to succeed in today’s competitive labor market.
AICCAD is committed to supporting individuals from vulnerable backgrounds, including families affected by chronic illness, teenage mothers (ages 13-19), survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, orphans, persons with disabilities, and low-income households. Within the next 12 months, the first group of DALMA graduates is expected to enter the workforce, creating lasting impact in their communities.
