PROGRAM: CHILD CENTRED & COMMUNIY DEVELOPMENT (CCCD)

LACATION: BUSIA COUNTY

REPORTS TO: PROJECT OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE

The position of ASSISTANT SPONSORSHIP OFFICER  primarily  supports  sponsorship and children  related interventions under Child Centered Community Development Program (CCCD) in Nambale Sub County, BUSIA County. This position will  majorly focus on sponsorship related services to enhance quality,timeliness and effective sponsorship communications for sustained  resource mobilization towards the implementation of the program. The post holder will  also work closely  with  other staff and community volunteers to ensure sponsorship is integrated into Self Help Groups (SHGs) structure. S/he will work towards the empowerment of communities by developing their skills to improve the well-being of the children.

 

 To maximize overall impact through the contributions of others, the post holder will be required to initiate, develop and maintain a range of working relationships, including with government counterparts especially the local administration and the Sub County government offices, community structures  and other stakeholders within the program  area.

OVERALL PROGRAMMATIC DUTIES

  • Help in establishment of child related networks at the community level.
  • Assist in the establishment of a strong sponsorship implementation and monitoring systems
  • Assist in systems strengthening for compliance to donor requirements.
  • Work in close collaboration and coordination with the PC to ensure the sponsorship initiatives are well managed and highly performing
  • Work closely with project coordinator in preparation of the project proposals, annual plans and budgets in consultation with target beneficiaries/communities

CHILD SPONSORSHIP/CHILDREN INITIATIVES

  • Ensure adherence to AICCAD Child Protection Policy
  • Ensure integration of child protection in the program activities
  • Support community awareness raising activities on Child Centred Community Development & Child Ambassador / Family Ambassador Model .
  • Participate in the preparation of project annual plans and budgets in consultation with local communities and other project staff.
  • Ensure quality child inventory management and filing system
  • Be responsible for initiating new and creative methods of strengthening communication between sponsors and the community
  •  Liaise with the SPO and the project coordinator to develop work-plan for all sponsorship activities
  • Ensure quality communications from Communities to the sponsors for sustainable funding base for CCCD interventions through quality digital photography
  • Ensure effective participation of children in Sponsorship and other child related activities (Children groups, national and international events etc).
  •  Work with other staff & community volunteers to implement core strategic areas; Child Development, Youth empowerment, Women empowerment and Climate change with disability, gender and L&A as a cross cutting themes
  • Capacity building for stakeholders in sponsorship and child protection related activities
  • Strengthen sponsorship performance management system to ensure timely sponsorship targets are met.
  • Work with SPO to submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Support on resource mobilization through proposals and concept writings

N/B: Undertake any other duty, which will be assigned from time to time.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or Degree in Development Studies, Social Science or related field of study.
  • 3+ years  in child focused community development
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience and skills in child sponsorship management
  • Experience in Community Integrated Development projects  including Livelihoods, Education, Health, Water& Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Child Protection
  • Demonstrated experience in Child protection development projects

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using MS Office package including Ms word, excel, power point and outlook as well as computer data bases
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in building personal and professional networks.
  • Good Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, interpersonal and cross cultural sensitivity;
  • Being a Christian adhering to the Christian identity
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage
