Human Resource Officer
Africa Inland Child and Community Agency for Development (AICCAD) is a faith-based, child-focused Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Kenya.
AICCAD seeks a dynamic, well-qualified, and motivated individual to support human resource and administrative functions across various programs. The role ensures efficient HR operations, compliance with policies and labor laws, and effective administrative support to enhance organizational performance and reporting.
Job Title: HR Officer
Status: Renewable Contract
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Overall Responsibility
The HR Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of human resource and administrative services, policies, and programs. This role drives strategies that foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture focused on empowerment, quality, productivity, and goal achievement while ensuring the smooth operation of administrative functions to support organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Specific Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives, systems, and policies.
- Provide guidance and counseling to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
- Actively manage the recruitment process, including preparing job descriptions, posting job ads, and coordinating hiring activities.
- Develop and implement manpower plans to meet organizational staffing needs.
- Develop and oversee training and development programs to enhance employee skills and performance.
- Establish systems to measure and evaluate HR development initiatives.
- Assist in implementing performance management processes, including appraisals and feedback mechanisms.
- Support managers in addressing disciplinary and grievance issues.
- Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Regularly review employment and working conditions to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on HR issues, opportunities, and achievements within agreed formats and timelines.
- Provide reports and updates on HR development plans and performance.
- Collaborate with departmental managers to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
- Ensure managers are up to date and compliant with the latest industrial relations legislation.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Integrate quality management, environmental policies, and duty of care into HR activities.
- Promote relationships with relevant external agencies and institutions for manpower planning and recruitment support.
- Stay current with contemporary HR trends and methods, providing valuable insights to leadership
- Provide comprehensive administrative support for governance tasks, including organizing board meetings, preparing reports, managing regulatory compliance, and following up on action items.
- Additionally, support the Executive Director with scheduling, correspondence, document preparation, and other administrative duties to facilitate effective decision-making and organizational leadership.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Bachelor of commerce (HR option)
- A Diploma in business administration will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an NGO or faith-based organization.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices.
- Proven experience in HR administration, recruitment, payroll processing, and employee relations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
