RE-ADVERTISEMENT OF YOUTH PROJECT OFFICER POSITION IN BUSIA
Background:
AICCAD is implementing a 7-year program for Child Centered Community Development (CCCD) program in Partnership with HAC, which seeks to empower local and county-level stakeholders to strengthen the community in Youth Activities in Busia County.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the BUSIA CCCD Project Coordinator, the Youth Project Officer is responsible for overall rollout of youth activities, ensuring the project meets its objectives and targets. The Youth Project officers will work closely with the youth for youth-based activities for economic activities through training, technical support, financial advice. He/ She will develop Youth operational plans, monitors their execution, and prepares periodic project performance reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- To mobilize the community and sensitize them on CCCD and Youth empowerment through enrolling youths into the project.
- To conduct participatory process in the projects to help the communities come up with realistic and achievable goals in relation to their own needs.
- Supporting the community-based interventions geared towards supporting youth development
- Facilitate formation and strengthening of youth support groups through the engagement of the SHGs and local administration.
- Undertake training of youth support task forces and network within the community.
- Facilitate the youth to undertake advocacy activities, livelihood skills, other income generating activities within the community.
- Facilitate Youth to access micro-finance through MFIs, identifying viable Income Generating Activities and monitor group functioning by proving technical assistance.
- Daily tracking and monitoring of project activities within the community.
- Facilitate psychological support to youths and their care giver through life skill and mentorship sessions.
- To coordinate the monitoring of project, data gathering and contact projection, evaluation and re-planning.
- Conduct HH visits follow ups to youth to assess their progress and any other case that needs further attention.·
- Promote youth groups through economic strengthening through SHG (Self Help Group) approach·
- Work with the Project Coordinator to represent AICCAD in meetings at county, Sub County and Cluster levels, working groups, and other events as requested, to support forging relations with the GOK, other stakeholders, and the community.
- Sensitizing and creating awareness on GBV and SRHR, reporting the cases and conduct follow-ups with the relevant authorities for case management.
- Economic Empowerment of parents/guardians through SHGs.·
- Preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plans and reports.
- To support in resource mobilization (proposal writing amongst others)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business required preferably in Social Work, Social Science, Project Management.
- Four years social work experience, preferably two in non-profit Organization.
- Knowledge of Youth Policies and Strategies, community engagement and entrepreneurship skills.
- Knowledge of Report writing, Counseling, Stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of Self-Help Groups (SHG) management.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity.
